Our Research

Our research focuses on understanding and exploiting the interactions of cells with biomaterials for therapeutic applications. Beginning in 1985, we have been applying controlled release principles to the delivery of chemotherapeutics, DNA-based therapeutics, and cells via polymeric biomaterials. We also develop microfluidics-generated double-emulsion droplets for multi-cellular spheroid formation, nanoparticle synthesis, DNA synthesis, and synthetic biology. Over 150 of our publications are on design of biomaterials for drug and gene delivery.
